Natural Remedies for Cold Sores

- Do not touch your blister

Are cold sores contagious?  Yes it is, that is why it is important not to touch your blisters to avoid more infection.  In case you touched your blister, see to it that you thoroughly wash your hand using an antiseptic soap. 

Never touch your genitals or your eyes after you have touched your blisters.  It is always advisable to have a bottle of hand sanitizer at hand.

- Take painkillers

If the sore is swollen and painful, you can take painkillers such as ibuprofen, aspirin or other non-prescription drugs that can help alleviate the pain. 

- Try to avoid things that can trigger the blisters attack

If you want to avoid such painful blister breakouts, make sure to protect yourself from the things that can only trigger it such as fever, stress, over exposure on the sun, colds and flu, low immunity and even a simple food allergies can make those blisters to pop out.

Why not try some stress busting technique such as regular workout, yoga or just by reading to help you avoid the factors that can trigger the blister breakouts.  You should also avoid eating foods that are citrus and salty to prevent the infection to get worst.

It is easy to treat the symptoms of cold sores.  Just make sure that you practice good hygiene to prevent the infection to spread out and get others to be infected.  But if the symptoms are still present, it is important to seek medical attention at once.
